Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs the Rapper Faces Judgment Following National Sex Trade Conviction
The artist known as Diddy is set to face a federal court judge in New York City this Friday for sentencing after being guilty verdict this year on federal counts involving prostitution.
Court Verdict
Following the eight-week trial that concluded in this past July, the jury cleared Combs of the top-level charges of sex trade and racketeering. Jurors, however, find him guilty on a pair of offenses of moving individuals for commercial sex acts.
Judge Arun Subramanian is now tasked with the duty of determining the penalty. The hearing is scheduled to commence at 10:00 AM ET.
Case Details
Combs was accused of coercing two past associates into intimate meetings with substances featuring hired escorts. If found guilty on the most serious charges might have resulted in a life in prison.
After being cleared of those claims, he allegedly knelt down in prayer. His legal counsel stated that he had “regained his life back”.
Possible Punishment
However, the convictions he was given both carry a potential of ten years incarcerated under the Mann Act, which prohibits interstate travel to facilitate prostitution.
Prosecutors describe the conduct as grave offenses, while the defense team has dismissed the accusations as “fallback” allegations that never should have proceeded.

Sources indicate that Combs intends to talk personally to the judge ahead of the sentence is delivered, although declining to testify throughout the trial.
In a request filed the previous week, his legal representatives requested that he be allowed to appear in “regular clothes” at the hearing, just as he had throughout the trial when he sported informal business attire.
“The sentencing proceeding is extremely important for Mr. Combs,” the document stated. “He wants to stand before the bench, address Your Honor, and make his case in the most dignified and respectful way attainable.”
Suggested Sentences
A wide range of penalties are possible, as prosecutors and defense attorneys have submitted proposals following US sentencing guidelines, though the last word is up to the judge.
Federal attorneys is urging no less than over 11 years incarcerated – which equals over a decade – calling Combs “unrepentant” and highlighting threats and aggression that testifiers recounted.
Defense lawyers are requesting up to just over a year, which including credit for time served would allow Combs to exit prison by the close of 2025. They argue that his sentence has already been adequate for what they claim was agreed-upon encounters with hired performers.
Court probation officers, in the meantime, estimated that the recommended sentencing range could reach up to 87 months.
